Park Entrance

Through this door you enter the Pötzleinsdorfer Schlosspark, a public park in the 18th district. The park was designed in the 18th district in the style of an English landscape garden and has a size of 354.000 m².

Vintage Signs #2

Here's another vintage sign for dog owners, recently discovered in the Pötzleinsdorfer Schloßpark in the 18th district. It says "no dogs allowed."

I love vintage signs like this one in the Kagran School Gardens. It reminds dog owners to put a leash on their dog.

Old Danube: Swans & Boats

The Old Danube is not far away from my place, and although I have been living there for twenty years, I "discovered" this dead end of a former river branch of the Danube with its calm atmosphere only this summer.

Old Danube: Sailboats

The Old Danube is popular for sailing. There are several sailing schools and boat rentals. From May to September the boat rentals extend their opening hours during full moon so that romantics can float along the Old Danube in the moonlight...

Dining by The Water

Some days ago I cycled alongside the Old Danube and discovered this tavern with a nice terrace by the water. I hope to manage to have dinner here this very summer.

The Sky is The Limit

The past two weeks the weather wasn't very nice, but I hope to see a similar sky (this photo was taken at the beginning of August) very soon. My holidays are drawing to a close and, back to work, I will first and foremost see the ceiling of the office if I look up...

"Green" House

I love this house in Gersthoferstraße in the 18th district not only because it's beautifully overgrown with ivy, but also because of the wooden veranda.

Old Pavilion

We continue our stroll through the Kagran School Gardens: This pavilion was originally set up for the 1873 World Exhibition in Vienna. It combines original parts and newly made wooden elements, giving an impression of what the pavilion must have looked like when it was first on display.

Idyllic Place

There are several theme gardens at the Kagran School Gardens. I have already shown you the Asian, and the Greek garden and here's now the Claude Monet garden, inspired by the painter's beautiful garden in Giverny, France.

Flora & Vertumnus

We are back to the Kagran School Gardens where you can also find this mosaic of Flora, the goddess of flowers, and Vertumnus, the god of gardens, executed in 1960 by Austrian artist Maître Leherb (1933-1997).

Mozart And Tourists

The monument to Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) in Burggarten is one of Vienna's most photographed sights. It was accomplished by Austrian sculptor Viktor Tilgner and erected in 1896, originally on Albertinaplatz, but transferred to Burggarten in 1953. As you can see there are currently a lot of tourists in Vienna.

We started this week with the Asian garden at the Kagran School Gardens and we end it with a view of the Greek garden.

Sunset Obsession #6

The sunset over the Danube Island last Sunday. From where I was standing I could see on the one side the sun setting and on the other side the full moon rising.

Mediterranean Feeling

I guess I have already told you (probably even repeatedly) that I love bright colours. No wonder that this shop window caught my eyes immediately. It even causes me a mediterranean feeling...

A Face on The Wall

Another week, another piece of street art: This time I discovered it in the 6th district. It's by Mexican born graffiti artist Stinkfish, whose works you have already seen here and here.

Summer Hats

Summer is not over yet, there will surely (hopefully) be some days when we could use a summer hat. At the hat manufacturer Mühlbauer they are all hand crafted and currently on sale. By the way, in 2014 this manufacturer - a family business, now in the fourth generation - celebrates his 111th anniversary. Too bad that I don't have a "hat face"...
