Waiting...

These chairs in front of a restaurant in the city center seem to be waiting for spring... After some days with springlike temperatures, there was again a cold snap and yesterday it was definitely much too cold to sit outside.

A New Kind of Painting

The exhibition "Painting with Method. Neoavantgarde Positions from the mumok Collection" at the MUMOK Museum Moderner Kunst presents different lines of development in painting from the 1950s to the 1970s. During the 1950s there was a radical shift and break with tradition in the fundamentals of painting in favor of new media-based forms of art. Key impulses came from minimal art and conceptual art. Their sober principles are reflected in abstract and geometrical painting with its formally reduced compositions and its rejection of narrative and illusionist representation.

Keith Haring Stairs

I'm back! The break of the last few months wasn't planned, it was a consequence of a lack of time, photos and inspiration. I hope that now I can get back to the old rhythm...
The Albertina museum uses to cover the external staircase with artworks to promote its exhibitions. From March to June the museum dedicated a comprehensive exhibition to American artist Keith Haring who would have turned 60 this year.

April Theme Day: One Colour

This photo is from the archive. I took it during an instawalk at the Lower Belvedere in October 2016. The light in this staircase changed every few minutes from one colour to another.

Eyecatching Letters

The "Salon am Park" is a grocery in the 2nd district where you can also have breakfast, snacks or light meals at noontime. I like the eyecatching letters in different fonts and colours.

Blue/Red/White

The outdoor areas of the cafés and restaurants are still closed, but in a passage in the city center the blue and red chairs and white tables are already waiting for guests.

Behind the Scenes #3

The Theater in der Josefstadt has an own workshop where the stage design is created. There we discovered a drawer unit with colour powder. I fell in love with this bright pink.

It's About the Colours

As you may already know, I never can resist taking photos of bright coloured chairs. In this photo I also love the blankets and the striped awning.

Under my Umbrella

In the 17th district a square has been embellished by an installation of 240 umbrellas. It's nice to watch the  colourful umbrellas move slightly with every gentle breeze.

Overgrown Façade

Except for the ground floor the façade of this building is completely overgrown with Virgina creeper. A real eye-catcher!

Deserted...

The past few days were rather chilly and rainy, and the forecast for the long weekend (Pentecost) isn't any better. The outdoor areas of the cafés and restaurants will be rather deserted...

Eyes Open

During yesterday's afternoon walk this colourful mural by American visual artist Lisa Marie Thalhammer caught my eyes. That's exactly what I do when I walk the streets of Vienna: I keep my eyes open, always in search of a good subject for a photo...
