I discovered this sign on a garage door of a villa in the 19th district during my last Sunday afternoon walk. People who live there might be able afford a Maserati, but there was no one in sight...

Some motivation for Dog Owners

There are a lot of dogs in Vienna... polluting the streets. Dog owners have to clean up after their pet when out for a walk, otherwise they have to pay a fine. The municipal government  tries to motivate the dog owners to comply with the laws with this sign that you can find nearly everywhere.

Vintage Signs #3

Browsing some photos of last year, I stumbled upon this vintage sign that indicates the relaxing gawn at the Pötzleinsdorfer Schloßpark in the 18th district.

Caution! Waiters Crossing!

I guess this is a sign that you don't see everywhere. It's located in front of this tavern, alongside the Eastern banks of the Old Danube. The waiters have to cross an alley to serve the guests on the terrace by the water.

Here's another vintage sign for dog owners, recently discovered in the Pötzleinsdorfer Schloßpark in the 18th district. It says "no dogs allowed."

I love vintage signs like this one in the Kagran School Gardens. It reminds dog owners to put a leash on their dog.

An interesting name of a new upscale burger restaurant in the city center.

Bicycle Girl

As I love to ride my bicycle this sign of course caught my eyes. It's the logo of a bicycle store in the 4th district which sells only dutch citybikes (click here for the english website).

Chocolate

Chocoholics like me don´t need any excuse for eating chocolate...

Guild Sign

In the Middle Ages guild members used to mark their places of business with guild signs. Some of them still exist today, as this one which indicates a locksmith.

Delicious

I discovered this sign/artwork in the window of an interior designer in the city center. I like the green colour (my favourite colour) and the old-fashioned font.

Cleaning Shop

This sign of a cleaning shop in the 19th district recalls the guild signs of the Middle Ages when guild members used to mark their places of business.

Prohibition Sign

I discovered this sign during my last promenade in the Augarten. As the area of this park is flat, I don´t know where people could sled and ski... There´s another rather funny thing about this sign: Altough it says that cycling is forbidden, a lot of people ride their bicycle (me too) completely unmolested from any caretaker or other visitors.

Funny Face

Someone put a funny face on the character of this don´t walk sign in the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace - anyhow nobody paid attention to these two signs... I took this photo last Sunday, in the meanwhile the cold wave is over and the snow has gone...

Don´t Play Football

In summer you can relax on certain lawns of Stadtpark, but it is not allowed to play football. With the current temperatures this signs looks rather funny. I don´t know anybody who would like to play football in the freezing cold...

Kiss And Ride

When I saw this sign for the first time on Praterstern railway station, it made me smile, but I didn´t know what it meant. Meanwhile I found out that "Kiss and Ride" indicates a short-term parking area at an airport or train station where you can discharge and pick up passengers.

No Camping

I case you wanted to park your camping trailer or recreational vehicle in front of the Imperial Palace, let me tell you: it is not allowed! By the way, the building in the background is the Town Hall.

Inviting Sign

This is the sign of a restaurant in the 4th district. I love the bright colours! The restaurant looks very nice from outside, unfortunately it´s rather pricey...
