StadtBiotop #1
StadtBiotop is a shipping container village in the 2nd district that houses pop-up shops and cafés. Stacked in an empty field across from the new campus of the University of Economics and next to the "Viertel Zwei" area, the shopping mall/pop-up party location is comprised of about 15 shipping containers. The grungy industrial junkyard aesthetic has a very special atmosphere.

Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Since last year it has become easier for restaurants, cafés but also shops to get the permission to set up an outdoor area. A fashion store in the 7th district (a rather creative area) put a sail boat on the street and realizes in this boat an urban gardening project. What a great idea!

Cute Little Shop
I have known this cute shop, located close to Schönbrunn Palace, from passing by for several years, but only last week I finally had the opportunity to go there during the opening hours. It's a very girly place, perfect if you are looking for a "special" gift.

Bicycle Girl
As I love to ride my bicycle this sign of course caught my eyes. It's the logo of a bicycle store in the 4th district which sells only dutch citybikes (click here for the english website).

Espresso Mobil
I wanted to see the "Espresso Mobil" ever since I first read about it last year. On Sunday, at the "Buskers Festival" on Karlsplatz, finally my wish came true. The "Espresso Mobil" is an Ape Car specially designed to hold, within it, Vienna’s first mobile coffee shop. There are five fixed locations in Vienna, but the coffee-to-go cars are also present at events, and you can even rent one for your own event.

Yellow Storefront
In Vienna you rarely see such bright coloured storefronts. It's a pity, I think this one looks great.

Repair Shop For Dolls
During my last Sunday afternoon walk I passed by this repair shop for dolls in the 4th district. It´s good to know that there´s still someone who dresses the wounds of dolls and plush toys.

The Cat in the Shop Window
In the street of my gym there´s a record store which sells also books, posters and furniture. It´s also the home of this cat which in the evenings sometimes sits in the window and watches the people passing by.

Bright coloured seating-accomodations in front of an interior designer shop in the city center. What a pity that I have neither a balcony nor a terrace.

Sometimes Life is Sweet
What to do if you walk by your favourite frozen yogurt store and for once there is no line? You just have to enter and indulge yourself in a frozen dessert. Right?

Summer Hats
Some days ago I read in the paper that an increasing number of people wears hats. Well, I can´t confirm this and I will surely never wear a hat myself (the hairdo, you know), but here´s a selection of summer hats.
The family run millinery "Mühlbauer" was founded in 1903 and became a brand name for hand finished headwear of the highest quality in the late 1920s. Currently it´s run by the fourth generation. You can buy Mühlbauer hats not only in Vienna but also in Paris (Le Bon Marché), Milan (10 Corso Como), Berlin (KdW) London (Harrods) or Los Angeles (Fred Segal). Of course there´s also an online shop.
