During my vacation the winter break of the boats came to an end. It's good to see them back in the water!
Did you miss me? I was on vacation in France and Spain for 13 days, but now I'm back. And of course I did my first walk along the Old Danube.
Well, that looks like there were some preparations for a proposal of marriage going on...
Donau Homes is a dormitory next to the Old Danube. It offers smart studios and apartments: the rooms are move-in ready, with modern interior and equipped with the newest technology and nearly every room includes a balcony, loggia or terrace. All this sounds good, but the building is located next to express highway Südosttangente - a reason why I wouldn't want to move in.
Each year, the international consulting firm Mercer carries out a study to assess the quality of life in 231 cities around the world. The results of the study in 2019 once again gave Vienna top marks and made it the most livable city in the world for the tenth time in a row! The survey compares the political, social and economic climate, medical care, education, and infrastructure conditions such as the well-developed public transportation network, power and water supply. It also takes into consideration recreational offers such as restaurants, theaters, cinemas, sports facilities, the availability and high quality of all kinds of consumer goods, as well as nature and environmental conditions.
The sunset last Sunday seen from Kaiserwasser in the 22nd district. I love to watch the sun set, it's a very special moment for me.

On Saturday the sky over the Old Vienna was rather cloudy.
The temperatures have been going up and down lately. Yesterday the weather was rather springlike and I started my afternoon at the Kaiserwasser, a branch of the Old Danube.

I have the impression that today's Valentine's Day is getting more and more commercialized. As for me, I wouldn't ask for more than watching with my love the sun set over the Old Danube.
On Sunday I did another walk along the Old Danube (yes, I know, it's getting boring) and caught this woman feeding the birds. She had brought a lot of bread with her... It must have been a feast for the birds...
On Saturdays I usually have to run errands, but when the weather is nice, I also try to do a short walk along the Old Danube. That's were I caught this boy feeding the birds.

Last Saturday was a sunny day and it was unusually warm for the season, so I wasn't the only one who was out and about. I caught this family during a break in their walk, watching the frozen Old Danube.
Last Saturday I took a detour to the Old Danube before running errands and noticed that it was partially frozen.
When I saw the first people who took a swim in the Old Danube during the winter season, I couldn't believe my eyes. Now I'm used to this sight, but I still don't understand them. I can't even take a cold shower (not even in summer)...
