Behind the Scenes #3

The Theater in der Josefstadt has an own workshop where the stage design is created. There we discovered a drawer unit with colour powder. I fell in love with this bright pink.

Behind the Scenes #1

I am late with this photo from September... Back then I participated in an instawalk at the Theater in der Josefstadt. Founded in 1788, it is the oldest still performing theater in Vienna. Our group got a guided tour behind the scenes, we could even take a look from the sky-high fly floors at the stage.

Bread Automat

This is Vienna's first bread vending machine, launched in October 2014. The idea is to reduce food waste: The automat works only at night and provides baking goods of a bakery nearby that have not been sold during the day. A very good idea!

Vienna Christmas Market

During the Advent season a lot of squares are transformed into Christmas markets. The stands of the Vienna Christmas Market in front of the town hall offer Christmas gifts, Christmas tree decorations, sweets and warming drinks, and the trees of the surrounding park are festively decorated. I took this picture two nights ago through a window of the Burgtheater.

Town Hall in a Late December Afternoon

The spire of the Town Hall hiding behind the trees in a late December afternoon. I´m still not used to how early the sun sets during winter...

Town Hall in Spring

The spire of the Town Hall hiding behind blooming and foliating trees.
I´ll be gone for some days and won´t have any internet access, but I have prepared postings, so please keep dropping by. I´ll be happy to read your comments on my return.

Vis-à-vis the Town Hall there is the Burgtheater (Vienna´s most important theatre), another gorgeous view for the skaters.

Sweet Sunday #7

The cupcakes are finding their way to Vienna... Recently the first cupcakes shop opened in Josefstädter Strasse in the 8th district, offering 20 different flavours. The shop is small, but very appealing and there are also two tables where you can have a cup of coffee, eat your cupcake and observe not only the coming and going of the customers but also the activities in the bakery.
