May Theme Day: Shopping

For four of the last seven weeks all shops, except supermarkets and drugstores have been closed due to the pandemia. Nearly three weeks ago the smaller shops reopened but I haven't been to any of them, I preferred to do some online shopping. Amongst other things I bought several face masks as they are now part of the new rules for our life with the Corona virus. During one of my last walks I discovered these masks in a shop window.

April Theme Day: School

When I step on my balcony and look to the left, I see this green building. It's part of a school campus that is to be opened in September this year. It will be named after Christine Nöstlinger, an Austrian writer best known for children's books. Speaking of schools: currently of course all schools are closed and so far it is not clear if they will be opened again before the end of the school year in June. Only the A Levels are planned to take place in the second half of May (two weeks later than primarily scheduled).

March Theme Day: Green

A beautiful green door in the 4th district. It has caught my eyes already three years ago, as you can see here.

February Theme Day: White

A white and beautifully ornated façade in the 6th district. I have taken this photo already six years ago, so I guess today it's not this neat any more as the building is located on a street with heavy traffic.

January Theme Day: Photo of the Year

As I'm obsessed with sunsets and walks along the Old Danube , I obviously had to choose a photo that combines these two "things" as my favourite photo of 2018. I published this photo last March when we had a cold spell and the Old Danube was frozen over - whereas I was already impatiently waiting for spring...

April Theme Day: One Colour

This photo is from the archive. I took it during an instawalk at the Lower Belvedere in October 2016. The light in this staircase changed every few minutes from one colour to another.

March Theme Day: Play

This photo is obviously from my archive as we still have sub-zero temperatures... I can still remember how fun it was to watch the children running after the soap bubbles and trying to catch them.

February Theme Day: Tired

This is my favourite morning cup: I love the text that reads "Allergic to morning" in French (I bought the cup some months ago in Paris) and the drawing. I'm absolutely not a morning person, and I hate to get up at 6 am during the working week. At this time of the day I always feel nearly as tired as in the evening when I go to bed.

The two former world's fair pavillions that now house the federal sculptor's studios are surrounded by a park where you can find several scultpures. One of them looks rather sensual...

An instawalk is when a group of people get together to explore a place while documenting their experience with photos and uploading them on instagram. And that's how it looks like when instagrammers do their job. I took this photo in July during the instawalk at the ÖAMTC headquarters.

Palm trees in Vienna? Yes, in the Hirschstetten Flower Gardens, the cultivation gardens of the Municipal Department which is in charge of the Viennese parks and gardens. I would really love to see much more palm trees in Vienna...
