One day I want to have a front door like this one in the 13th district and decorate it with two boxtrees.

Viticultural Decorations

The decorations of this doorway are clearly inspired by the viticulture. No wonder, it's located in Stammersdorf, one of the more than 20 viticultural areas of Vienna.

Green Door

Green is one of my favourite colours. Therefore I was happy to discover this green door in the 4th district.

Blue Door

Yesterday afternoon the beautiful blue door of the Embassy of Tunisia caught my eyes. I don't only love the colour but also the traditional decorations.

I love the blue doors in Paris! For whatever reason in Vienna the doors are mostly painted in muted colours, but every now and then I stumble upon bright coloured and even blue doors...

Red Door

Last wednesday evening the Jewish Museum Vienna hosted a special event and welcomed the guests with a red carpet and an illuminated doorway.

Theme Week: Blue #3

As some of you may already know, I love blue doors - especially the ones in Paris... In Vienna it´s not so easy to find blue doors, most doors are brown. This building on Franziskanerplatz in the city center stands out with its blue door and matching window frames.

Doorway #4

There are three things in this photo that I like: the colour of the door (green is my favourite colour), the caryatids and the beautiful wrought-iron balustrade of the balcony. If you zoom in, you can see the crest of the Nimptsch family who owned this palace from 1775 to 1914 on the balustrade of the balcony.

Theme Week: Blue #4

In Vienna, most of the front doors are painted in brown or in other rather dreary colours, but there are some exceptions like this blue one in Große Sperl-Gasse in the second district.

Theater Museum #1

This week I´m taking you to the Austrian Theater Museum. It is located in the baroque Lobkowitz Palace, the first important urban palace constructed after the second siege by the Turks in 1683. So let´s enter the beautiful wooden door!

I discovered this painted door in Greinergasse in the 19th district. If you zoom in you can see scenes of the four seasons.

Doorway #2

This doorway in Rauhensteingasse 3 in the city center is very interesting: It shows manifold freemasonic symbols - 3 doorknobs, 3 bells on each side of the door and 2 intertwined squares (2x4= 8 the perfect number). The rough stone dangling under the street number symbolizes the imperfect man who needs to be worked by the mason in order to get shaped and smoothed.
