Retro Spring
Are you in the mood for a small trip into the past? Then you just need to take a look at the windows of the Prada store in the city center: Welcome to the 1950s!

Sweet Easter Eggs
Easter is around the corner. It´s time to buy a little something for your loved ones, friends and coworkers. How about some marzipan eggs?

Schönbrunn Palace #3
When I don´t really know where to take a walk, I usually end up in the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace. No bad place at all for taking a bit of fresh air... This photo was taken last Saturday.

Reflections #16
This golden statue, which I discovered in front of the Sofitel Vienna Stephandsom, is an enlarged version of the Romy TV award trophy. This award was created in 1990 by the movie reviewer of an Austrian newspaper in honor of the Austrian actress Romy Schneider. The 30,5 cm gilded trophy recalls a scene from the movie "The Swimmingpool" with Alain Delon. This year´s awards ceremony will take place on April 21 at the Imperial Palace.

Cleaning Shop
This sign of a cleaning shop in the 19th district recalls the guild signs of the Middle Ages when guild members used to mark their places of business.

Taking a Break
We have had beautiful spring weather since last weekend. That´s good for all the tourists who are currently exploring the city. This exhausted tourist enjoys the sun while taking a break next to a sphinx in front of the Upper Belvedere.

Beautiful Oriel
This beautifully decorated oriel is part of an apartment building in the 4th district. It was constructed for Wilhelm Coulon, director of a paper mill, in 1877. The apartment of the landlord occupied the whole first floor, whereas the ground floor as well as the second and third floor were divided in several apartments. I wouldn´t mind living there...

Easter Bunnies
The beginning of spring doesn´t only mean the awakening of nature but also that Easter is around the corner. Here are some first chocolate Easter bunnies at the confectionary Gerstner in the city center.

Reading in the Park
The past two days we had sunny skies and temperatures as in early summer. The parks were crowded with people enjoying this unusual weather. This girl found a quiet and sunny place in the Botanical Garden and did some reading.

Happy Blogiversary!
Exactly two years ago I started my daily photo blog of Vienna. Due to recent problems with google, I renamed the blog and moved it to the current address - so this second blogiversary is a kind of restart. This blog has helped me to see my hometown in a new way, I discovered details that usually are ignored by locals, and I´m very much looking foward to showing you "my Vienna" for another year. Many thanks to everyone who has ever visited my blog and especially to those who left a comment, I appreciate your support very much. Let´s celebrate with this unusual bouquet of flowers that I discovered in the window of a department store in the city center.

Judenplatz
In the Middle Ages Judenplatz was the center of Jewish Life and the Viennese Jewish Community. Today the Jewish Museum Judenplatz, the Holocaust Memorial and a monument to the German poet Gotthold Ephraim Lessing still relate to this past.

Don´t forget to look up while strolling through Vienna, otherwise you will miss a lot of beautiful details on the façades, as for instance this art nouveau lady.

No Means No
I discovered this statement on a building in the city center. I have no idea to which incident it may refer or if it´s just a general declaration. Anyway, it´s a very strong message.

S.A.L.E.
I discovered this wooden hand with cards saying "sale" in the window of a small bookshop in the city center. I love this unobtrusive and creative way of advertising.

Absolutely Vienna
No other museum in Vienna collects with so broad a spectrum as the Wien Museum – art, photos, architecture, fashion, daily-life objects. Thousands of pictures and objects have been acquired in the first decade of the 21st century, complemented by unusual donations. The exhibition "Absolutely Vienna- Acquisitions and Donations since 2000" presents a selection, a collage of 500 aspects of Vienna, turning the spotlight on the unique potential of the Wien Museum. The exhibition runs through March 18.

Prohibition Sign
I discovered this sign during my last promenade in the Augarten. As the area of this park is flat, I don´t know where people could sled and ski... There´s another rather funny thing about this sign: Altough it says that cycling is forbidden, a lot of people ride their bicycle (me too) completely unmolested from any caretaker or other visitors.

See You In...
Yesterday I was at the opening of a new store in a shopping mall dedicated to home interior, design and lifestyle products. In the window of one of the shops I discovered this series of mirrors ("See You In...") in the shape of various European countries. The mirrors can be bought separately and then be snapped together like a jigsaw-puzzle - in this way you can create a map with your favourite countries. The online shop is here.

March Theme Day: Electricity
Currently I´m very short of time, so for this month´s theme day I just made it to this prototype of a phone booth with integrated charging station for electric cars close to my place. In Vienna there are currently a total of 120 charging stations for electric cars. According to a newspaper article, in October 2011 there were 800 electric cars in Austria (and 4 million "normal" cars).
