Everybody waltz!

Another window display inspired by the current ball season. I love how the petit fours are decorated and arranged as ball visitors and debutantes. At the Vienna Opera Ball, the highlight of the Viennese carnival season, the last dance of the debutantes is always the "Blue Danube" Viennese waltz by Johann Strauss II, after which the floor is opened to all guests with the words "Everybody waltz!". The confectionary Gerstner put some houses made of chocolate in its window for the Christmas season.

Spoilt for Choice

That's only a selection of the cakes availabe at the "K.u.K. Hoflieranten". It was really hard to make a choice... (I'm sorry for the bad quality of the photo, I took it with my mobile phone.)

New in Town

Yesterday afternoon I treated myself to tea and cake at "K.u.K. Hoflieferanten" in the city center. This place was opened a month ago and is a joint venture of the confectionary Gerstner and the Schlumberger Winery.  In the shop on the ground floor you can purchase selected Gerstner and Schlumberger products, on the first floor you can either sit at the bar or in the lounge area. If you are lucky enough to get a seat at a window you can also enjoy a beautiful view of the Vienna State Opera.

Easter Bunnies

The beginning of spring doesn´t only mean the awakening of nature but also that Easter is around the corner. Here are some first chocolate Easter bunnies at the confectionary Gerstner in the city center.

Christmas trees and houses made of chocolate in the window of the confectionary Gerstner in the city center. Gerstner was founded in 1847 and appointed Imperial Court Confectioner in 1873.

Sweet Sunday #4

As of late the confectionary Gerstner on Kärntnerstrasse offers cupcakes in five flavours: nutty pistachio, vanilla bean, lemon drop and peach cobbler. I haven´t tried one of them yet, but I will certainly do in the near future. My first choice will be the nutty pistachio cupcake.
