Frozen Yogurt
Thanks to a friend of mine I have become a regular of "Kurt. Pure Frozen Yogurt", a recently opened store in the city center. You can choose between three flavours of yogurt and 20 toppings and create the perfect sweet delight for your taste bubs.

Free Hugs
When I recently was waiting for a friend in Stephansplatz, I watched these two young men offering free hugs and I was quite surprised how many people approached them. I guess they were tourists, my fellow countrymen would rather ignore the boys. For more information on the free hugs campaign please click here.

Graffiti Tourists
I discovered this graffito on a wall next to the Danube Canal. Vienna is a very popular place for city tourists - in 2010 the hotels registered 10,9 million overnight stays, but of course there are also a lot of people who just take a day trip to Vienna. I like to watch the tourists exploring my hometown, reading their city maps, taking photographs, showing enthusiasm for things that I barely notice and to make a guess from where they are based on their outifts and general behaviour.

Vienna Airport
This is what I will see very early this morning on my departure from Vienna (Have I already mentioned that I´m going to Paris for a week?). You won´t really note my absence, I have prepared some photos for you.

Summer Of Love
The current decoration in the window of the Swarovski shop is inspired by the spirit of the hippies. All dresses are created by Indian designer Manish Arora. I´m pretty sure that Barbie likes this window ;-)

Pink Suzy
The day before yesterday I indulged my sweet tooth in a café-restaurant in the city center with
"Pink Suzy", a big and delicious raspberry macaroon - the perfect preparation for my imminent trip to Paris. I think Barbie would also love this dessert.

A Dress For Barbie
Being the daughter of a tailoress, I spent a lot of time in fabric shops in my childhood and still feel attracted by colours, fabrics, buttons etc. The dress in this shop window in the city center would be perfect for Barbie. What do you tink?

A Shop For Barbie
I´m pretty sure that Barbie would be attracted by the coulours of these bags and flowers at the entrance of this beautiful shop.

Barbie´s Chair
If Barbie would have lunch or a drink after work in this café in the city center, she would most probably choose to sit on the pink chair.

Barbie´s Scooter
Nearly every time I take a certain street in the city center, I see this pink scooter. It must belong to a girl (Barbie?) working at close quarters. If I will ever happen to see her? Click here for a photo of this scooter taken last year when it was in company of a black friend (Ken´s scooter?).

Through The Window
Before we leave the Leopold Museum, let´s throw a look through of one of its windows at the baroque main building of MuseumsQuartier. In the background you can see the Natural History Museum (the building with the cupola).

Airstreamer
The MUMOK (Museum Moderner Kunst) has temporarily suspended its exhibition activity due to renovation and redesign works. Nevertheless there is an information and art education programme. An Airstreamer serves as information desk. What a great idea!

Art Objects
Recently there have been some new inflatable sculptures in front of MuseumsQuartier on the occasion of its 10th anniversary, amongst others "Breast Wonder" by Dorothée Golz. Another art objet that is currently located in front of the cultural complex is the wooden "Flederhaus", which is meant to symbolize sustainable building and inspire reflection - you can relax there in hammocks.

Touring The City
For tourists who want to explore the city, but don´t want to walk all day long the Segway is a modern alternative. You can book three-hour guided tours, including a 30 minute safety orientation training here. The guide of this group and one of the participants admittedly were riding bicycles. Maybe they ran out of Segways?

Keep Off The Grass
In the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace you have to keep off the grass. Usually the caretakers chase off everybody as soon as they set foot on the grass. Well, the exception proves the rule...

Fête Imperiale
Tonight the Spanish Riding School turns into a splendid ballroom for the Fête Impériale, a summer ball for over 2.000 guests whose proceeds will help to ensure the continued breeding of the Lipizzaner and the future existence of the Spanish Riding school. The window decorations of the department store Steffl in the city center were inspired by this event.

The Calm (Before The Storm)
Since school holidays have started last Friday, the summer weather has taken a break - the last few days the weather was very variable and the sky mostly clouded. So it was no wonder that the deckchairs at "Tel Aviv Beach" on Danube Canal were all empty when I passed there yesterday. The situation will change in an instant as soon as the sun will be back...

Sense of Family
Here´s the newest project of art in public space: The Ringturm, opened in 1955, houses the headquarters of an insurance company and is currently wrapped with the artwork "Familiensinn" (Sense of Family) by Austrian painter and stage designer Xenia Hausner (*1951).
