A Closer Look
Last week I showed you the current display of the Swarovski store. Today let´s have closer look at one of the models with her clothes made from
newsprint. Isn´t she chic?

wisdom? peace? blank? all of this?
The recently refurbished Theseus Temple serves now as the venue for a new series of exhibitions of the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Museum of Fine Arts): returning
the building to its original function, each show presents a single
seminal work by a contemporary artist. Currently the temple houses an old, gnarled olive tree, cast by the Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone from a
two-thousand-year-old living tree in southern
Italy and then painted white. The show "wisdom? peace? blank? all of this?" runs through June, 24. Click here for a short video in german.

Dining Table
Some weeks ago this new lunchroom ("Esstisch") opened vis-à-vis my office. The eatery offers light fare currys and salads. Being a curious person I went there the very first day after the opening and since then became a regular - not only because of the good salads but also because of the very motivated and friendly staff and the cool, stylish interior.

Interesting Construction
I don´t quite get the function of this modern construction on an old building in the city center. There are no floors except at the top... Modern architecture or modern art?

Fashion & (Fake) Sweets
Having a sweet tooth, the new display of the department store "Steffl" of course caught my eyes. I love these huge macaroons and the cupcake!

Bowling Shoes
Yesterday I went bowling with some colleagues of mine. We all had to put on the same bowling shoes... Initially we were a little concerned about the hygiene, but in the end we had a lot of fun!

News-Paper
The current decoration “News-Paper" in the window of the Swarovski store focusses on the media and fashion. Mannequins wear clothes made from
newsprint and present distinctive, completely different fashion
silhouettes from various style periods between 1895 (the founding year
of Swarovski) and today. Matching jewelry as well as trend and sample
books from the Swarovski archives complement the staging.

Bull´s Eyes
The façade of a new hotel in the first district "reminiscents of a creation of Koloman Moser - a sparkling cylinder studded with oval precious stones" (according to the hotel flyer). The hotel definitely stands out from the adjacent old buildings. I wonder how the reactions of the broad public will be...

Deserted
The last weekend the weather was overcast and cold, and there won´t be any improvement within the next few days. Therefore the outdoor areas of the cafés and restaurants will continue to be deserted.

Town Hall in Spring
The spire of the Town Hall hiding behind blooming and foliating trees.
I´ll be gone for some days and won´t have any internet access, but I have prepared postings, so please keep dropping by. I´ll be happy to read your comments on my return.

Easter Bunny #2
Here´s one last Easter bunny, I discovered it at the Arts and Crafts Market Am Hof.
By the way: I read in the newspapers that the Viennese Economic Chamber is very satisfied with this year´s total revenue of 46 million Euros of the Easter business (9 million Euros more than last year). I´m not used to making big presents at Easter, my friends and family have to content themselves with sweets and self-coloured eggs... How about you?

Easter Bunny #1
This bunny observes what is going on at the Old Viennese Easter Market. I love his green shirt and the way he´s holding his carrot.
