A beautiful arrangement of spring flowers in front of a flower shop near my place. Some of you may recognize the chair from this photo.
Today is an important day for Great Britain: Prince William of Wales and Kate (Catherine) Middleton are getting married. On this occasion my favourite tea shop is offering a special choice of british products, amongst others of course royal wedding cups and a handmade teapot (for € 89,- you can have this single copy).
I had another photo in mind for today, but then I stumbled upon this Mini car with the Union Jack on the roof and thought it would be a nice anticipation of tomorrow´s Royal Wedding in Great Britain.
This car seems to belong to someone who loves flowers and likes to take them for a ride. The flowers don´t look very happy. Is it because they would prefer to "live" in an apartment or because their last ride was too long ago?
Yesterday I was invited to an Easter meal. My aunt brought a basket filled with some delicious home-baked Easter crowns.
I read in the newspaper that the retail industry is happy with the Easter business. Decorations, sweets, eggs, perfumes, toys and consumer electronics sold well. When I was a child, I was always happy with just a basket filled with sweets and eggs, but times and demands are changing... Anyway, I think that still a lot of chocolate Easter bunnies will be devoured today. Have a happy Easter!!
While children get Easter baskets filled with sweets, adults could decorate their apartment with a floral basket like this one that I discovered at a flower shop near my place.
In one of the windows of the confectionary Oberlaa the Easter bunny is currently preparing traditional sweet Easter Breads (Pinze).
These happy Easter bunnies are made of branches, I discovered them at the Schönbrunn Palace Easter Market (which is not held IN but IN FRONT OF the palace).
The Easter markets are back! The "Old Vienna Easter Market" on Freyung in the city center is famous for its huge amount (ca. 40.000) of painted Easter eggs.
Easter is around the corner, it´s time to buy some sweets for the Easter basket. Be prepared for some more photos on the subject of Easter within the next days.
The entrance area of the office building emulates the original bottle of Almdudler (Click here for a photo of the bottle), branded with a couple in traditional Austrian garb.
This building, constructed in 2009, houses the headquarters of the beverage company Almdudler which creates a well-known herb lemonade of the same name. Since 1957 the lemonade has been made of 32 natural Alpine herbs - no preservatives, no artificial flavors are added. Tomorrow I will show you a photo of the entrance area.
Some of the most expensive residential areas are located in the northwestern outskirts (18th and 19th district). I love to walk through the quiet alleys, admire all those beautiful mansions and ask myself how my life would look like if I was born in such an environment.
That´s the most extravagant decoration of a balcony I´ve seen so far!
This colourful ear sculpture is located in front of the Funkhaus (broadcasting center) in the 4th district. It was created by Gugging artist Johann Garber and was erected in 2007 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the radio station Ö1.
I stumbled upon these bright coloured tables and chairs in the city center, in front of a recently opened café.
Lately I see a lot of flower shops that arrange their flowers on the sidewalk. I can´t complain, flowers are always a good photo subject! Please also note the pink Easter bunnies in the window.
During a recent walk in the 18th district I stumbled upon this house with blue shutters. I love how they are perfectly matching the incredible blue sky.
The Setagaya Park was created in the traditional japanese style (several ponds and streams, densely-planted garden elements). The name of the park derives from the Setagaya district in Tokyo, a sister district of Vienna´s 19th district. The current blooming season is the perfect moment to take a walk in this park. I was not the only one who took pictures ;-)
I discovered this house in a quiet street in the 19th district. Its colour immediately caught my eye, unfortunately it´s not in the best condition. It could need some renovation...
The view from Oberer Reisenbergweg towards the northeast part of Vienna. Click here for another view from this alley earlier this year.
Yesterday it was very sunny and warm (the temperature was like in May or June). On Kahlenberg some people were relaxing and enjoying the sun in deckchairs.
Finally the trees and shrubbery are folitating! Here´s a blooming magnolia that I discovered in the 18th district.
It´s not the first time that I show you a photo of the new quarter "Viertel Zwei" in the second district - and this one surely won´t be the last...
