This photo is obviously from my archive as we still have sub-zero temperatures... I can still remember how fun it was to watch the children running after the soap bubbles and trying to catch them.

March Theme Day: Play

Umbrella/Parasol
Visiting a museum can be exhausting, especially for children. These two were recovering last Sunday on a bench in front of the Lower Belvedere - under an umbrella with Klimt's "The Kiss" that they used as parasol.

It was fun watching these children chasing huge soap bubbles... They didn't get tired of trying to catch them...

June Theme Day: Zest
I didn't have the slightest idea what to photograph for this month's theme day.... and then I went to a shopping center in the 22nd district and saw these kids enjoy the interactive children's area. They were running around, happily chasing the moving "tiles" - the boy in the green sweater was paticularly into it.

Soap Bubbles
In the afternoon of Sunday before last young and old had a lot of fun chasing soap bubbles... I've seen several soap bubble makers during the past few years and I have to say that this lady did a very good job.

Rudy, the Red Nosed Reindeer(s)
At the Christmas market in front of the Upper Belvedere children can take a ride on Santa Claus's reindeers or even in his sleigh - although Santa Claus is no local tradition, Austrian children get their presents usually from the Christkind.

Little Girl And Ducks
I took this photo some weeks ago when we had the first days of snow but I could have taken it yesterday because the snow is back. During my walk through a very winterly Stadtpark, this toddler in her pink dawn jacket caught my eyes and I stopped to watch how she had fun with the ducks.

Sledding Street
In Vienna there are two official "sledding streets" - streets that aren´t cleared from snow so that children can have fun sledding there. There are also hills in some parks that have been safety certified in
accordance with official regulations. For more information please click here.

Kagome
Kagome is a Japanese song for children and also a special Japanese lattice. At the MuseumsQuartierWien currently it´s the name of a sandbox for children in a willow hut, a green and shady spot where the little ones (shorter than 1,40 m) can dig, shovel and excavate. The children seem to have a lot of fun in there.

An Afternoon at the Museum #1
Yesterday I intended to make an afternoon walk, but after ten minutes in the freezing cold I changed my mind and spent some time at the Wien Museum. Thanks to yesterday´s free entrance (on the first Sunday of each month) and the current semester break there were a lot of other visitors. The children seemed to have a lot of fun at the game station, a playing and learning area specifically designed for the motoric, cognitive and social abilities of young children (aged 2 to 6 years old).
