2017 Christmas Illuminations #1

It's time to show you the Christmas illuminations in Vienna... A friend of mine who doesn't like modern architecture recently told me that the Haas Haus looks quite nice with its Christmas lights.

Beautiful Sky

Yesterday afternoon I briefly left the office to get a late lunch and saw this beautiful sky over the Haas Haus and St. Stephen's Cathedral. A nice change to the recent greyness.

Look up!

The Haas Haus in the city center is always a good photo subject. I love how the parasols of the restaurant on the top floor stick out against the sky.

Haas Haus

"Haas Haus", located in the very city center, right across St. Stephen's Cathedral, was designed by Austrian star architect Hans Hollein and opened in 1990. The building is in strong contrast to the adjacent historic buildings,it houses a hotel, a restaurant/bar and a multi-level store of an international fashion chain.

Opposites Attract

The modern Haas Haus, opened in 1990, forms quite a contrast to the Roman towers of St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna's most important religious building.

Snow in the City

When I got up yesterday, a thin blanket of snow covered the city. This is how Stephansplatz looked like on my way to the office. In the meanwhile the better part of the snow unfortunately has turned into slush...

Parasols

I love how the parasols of the restaurant on the top floor of Haas Haus stick out against the sky. It must be nice to sit up there and have lunch or dinner and enjoy the gorgeous view.
