So Much Art

Yesterday I was at the opening of the viennacontemporary art fair which unites art from the East and the West. More than 100 galleries and institutions from 23 countries gather under one roof and represent emerging and iconic artists. The art fair ends on Sunday, September 30. Unfortunately I didn't note who did the paintings in the photo.

Contemporary Art

Here is a collage of four artworks that have been on show at the recent viennacontemporary art fair and that caught my eyes. Can you guess which of them was a big hit on the social media?

The Entrance to the Art Fair

In this photo of the entrance area of the viennacontemporary you can see a little of the wrought iron construction of the Marx Halle.

Marx Halle

As I have already told you, I attended the opening of the art fair viennacontemporary last Wednesday. I didn't feel very well that night, so on Saturday I decided to go there one more time. The fair was held at the Marx Halle in the 3rd district. The listed building was erected at the end of the 19th century and originally housed the local cattle market, today it serves as a venue for large-scale events, concerts and fairs. Marx Halle was the first building in Vienna to have a wrought iron structure.

Just another Work of Art...

Yesterday evening I was at the opening of the art fair viennacontemporary  where around 100 galleries from 26 countries present contemporary art with a focus on Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe. In this pohoto you see a work of Austrian artists Maria Anwander and Ruben Aubrecht. The ironic title of "Just another Work of Art which will not go down in History" refers to the postmodern dictum that there are no more masterpieces.

Interesting Style

I love art fairs not only for the art, but also because it's a perfect place for people watching. This couple had a really eye-catching style of clothing and got some funny looks... You can't see it in this photo: the girl's eyebrows were turquoise...

Art Vienna #2

Here's another work that caught my eyes at the art fair "Art Vienna": it combines an old papercollage with modern spraypaint and was realised on a vintage wood drawer by 3stepscrew, a German street art collective.

Art Vienna #1

Recently the first "Art Vienna" took place at the Leopold Museum. The art fair focused on Austrian and international contemporary art and classical modernism. This photos shows two eye-catching works by Spanish artist Samuel Salcedo.

Art Austria

Yesterday was the last day of the Art Austria art fair, held at the Leopold Museum: 50 exhibitors presented art exclusively from Austria. For me this fair is a fixture, and yesterday the weather was perfect for a stroll inside...

At the Art Fair

Yesterday I attended another art fair: the Viennafair, an international contemporary art fair. Within the fair there's the fascinating exhibition “Kinesis – A study of movement in image” where I shot this self-portrait.

Parallel Vienna 2015

On Saturday afternoon I attended the Parallel Vienna. This art festival presented the works of more than 400 young and aspiring as well as established national and international artists. I have to admit that I didn't quite understand most of the "artworks"...

Crazy Shoes

I was a little disappointed by the artworks at the viennacontemporary art fair, and even the people were less colourful than expected. One gallerist at least wore these crazy, eye-catching shoes.

Art People

I love to attend art fairs, not only because of the works of art, but also because of the colourful group of people  (gallery owners, artists, art collectors, art students) you can see there.

Austrian Art

On Wednesday evening I attended the opening of the "Art Austria" art fair at the Leopold Museum. In this fair, that takes place for the 8th time, around 50 presenters exhibit 20th and 21st century Austrian art such as "Shelter (Ad Example)" by Manfred Erjautz.

Art & Antique

Yesterday I was at the "Art & Antique" fair at the Imperial Palace: 50 (mostly) national art dealers and galleries present arts, antiques, design and jewelry. You can find there rustic furniture, carpets, religious art but also contemporary paintings - there is something for (nearly) every taste. The fair runs through November 16.

Parallel Vienna

Yesterday I attended the Parallel Vienna, a platform for innovative forms of presentation of contemporary art that occupies a niche between emerging and established art practices. The artworks were... um... well... interesting...

Contemporary Art

Last wednesday I attended the vernissage of the VIENNAFAIR, an art fair that presents a cross-section of Eastern and Southeastern European contemporary works of visual art, painting, graphics, sculpture, photography, installations and performances.
By the way, for art lovers there is another fixture tonight: the Long Night of Museums. Museums and galleries all over the city open their doors from 6 pm to 1 am and can be visited with only one ticket.

October Theme Day: Movement

I took this photo three years ago at the opening of the art fair VIENNAFAIR. After having marvelled at contemporary artworks for hours, a friend of mine and me fooled around with our cameras, trying to create our own "artworks". I kind of like the results and think this one fits today's theme quite well. Funnily tonight I will attend the opening night of this year's edition of this fair...

Austrian Art

Yesterday was the last day of the "Art Austria" art fair at the Leopold Museum: Around 50 exhibitors (galleries) presented exclusively Austrian art. Works from the Art Nouveau, Biedermeier and Classicism periods stood alongside contemporary works.
