Upper Belvedere - The Marble Hall
The grand staircase leads to the Marble Hall, the Upper Belvedere's most magnificient room. The hall occupies two storeys and once served as an antechamber. On 15 May 1955 the Austrian State Treaty, that re-established a free, sovereign and democratic Austria after the end of World War II, was signed here by the Allied occupying powers (France, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Soviet Union) and Austrian foreign minister Leopold Figl.
