This visitor of the Upper Belvedere didn't look like a typical art lover, but he admired the painting of "Napoleon at the Great St. Bernhard Pass" (1801) by Jacques-Louis David for quite a while...
Interesting! I am on a computer now with a larger screen and I can easily read it, but earlier I could not see it on a smaller screen computer. Yes, it is a city that attracts BIG bikes and their owners and admirers. I've driven through it but never have stayed there. I like the painting better than the t-shirt!
A great painting and a lovely photo of the "art lover." I am interested in his shirt, but cannot quite make out the image.
ReplyDeleteAh, so that's where that painting resides! I've seen it often in books.
ReplyDeleteThe t-shirt would have to be Sturgis, in South Dakota. It's known for motorbike rallies. I'm assuming this fellow to be an American.
