Looking Through the Garden Gate
During my last Sunday's afternoon walk in the 19th district I passed by several beautiful mansions - sometimes you can only get a climpse of the buildings by looking through the garden gate... This mansion was built in 1906/07 by famous architect Josef Hoffmann for the Austrian Art Nouveau painter Carl Moll (1861-1945).

Autumn in the Japanese Garden
Two times a year the Setagaya Park in the 19th district is a special feast for the eyes: in spring when the trees are blooming and in autumn when the leaves are changing.

The façade of this mansion in the 19th district is completely covered with Virginia creeper. A spectacular sight in autumn!

A Quiet Square
I don't like wide and busy streets, I prefer quiet squares like this one in the city center. In this photo you can see several things that I love: tables and chairs, atlasses and a balcony. Please click here for a closer look of the balcony and the façade of the Baroque palace.

Autumnal Wreath
How about decorating the entrance door of your apartment/house or a wall in your living room with an autumnal wreath similar to this one?

Too Cold to Sit Outside
Until the end of the November the gastronomers are still allowed to put tables and chairs outside, but it's currently too cold to sit outside.

Albrecht Dürer Hof
The Albrecht Dürer Hof in the 6th district was built in 1902 in the style of the German Reinaissance although at that time this style wasn't usual any more. I guess the building was named after Albrecht Dürer because he was a representative of the German Renaissance.

Façade Detail #39
The mosaic on the facade of this apartment building in the 19th district depicts the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius Probus. He revoked Rome's exclusive right to plant noble vine, and he employed the soldiers in time of peace on useful works, such as the planting of vineyards in Gaul, Pannonia and other districts, in order to restart the economy in these devastated lands. The 19th district is a wine-growing district within Vienna's city limit.

Salon Français
This past weekend we had a drop of temperature, yesterday I had to dig out one of my old winter jackets and still was cold. Maybe a French winter jacket would be a better idea? The department store "Steffl" in the city center currently presents 40 French brands in the "Salon français" event.

At the Art Fair
Yesterday I attended another art fair: the Viennafair, an international contemporary art fair. Within the fair there's the fascinating exhibition “Kinesis – A study of movement in image” where I shot this self-portrait.

Flower Shop
Whenever I need to photograph flowers, this flower shop in the very city center is the first place to go. The beautiful arrangements of flowers in front of the shop are popluar photo subjects for tourists (and locals like me). In this photo I tried the "toy camera" effect of my new camera that I really like a lot.

I Just Can't Help it
Last Sunday, watching out for design objects at the headquarters of the recent Vienna Design Week, I stumbled upon the colourful tables and chairs in front of the local cafeteria. This was the perfect opportunity to try one of the "effects" of my new camera... By the way, this is my 2.000th blog post!

Vienna Design Week 2015 #2
This table was my favourite object at the festival headquarters of the Vienna Design Week: "ephemerā", an interactive kinetic table by the Austrian designer duo mischer’traxler. The floral decoration becomes alive when seen from a distance and reacts to the proximity of the audience by retreating into the table.

Vienna Design Week 2015 #1
Yesterday was the last day of the Vienna Design Week. The ten-day design festival offered a large number of events across the city. I only made it last-minute to the festival headquarters in a former bread factory in the 10th district. This photo shows some iconic Polish furniture designs.

Cafe Restaurant
I love vintage signs and characters, especially from the 1950s and 1960s. Some days ago the neon writing in the entrance area of a long-established café in the city center caught my eyes.

October Theme Day: Shelter
It was hard to find an appropriate subject for this month's theme day... This projecting roof of an office building in the 3rd district caught my eyes just in time.
