To conclude our visit of the exhibition "The Vulgar. Fashion Redefined" here are three dresses created by Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen for her autumn/winter 2016/2017 collection, exhibited in the magnificent Gold Cabinet of Prince Eugene of Savoy's Winter Palace.
This insteresting ensemble was created by Belgian fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck for his autumn/winter collection 2010/2011, the hat is a design by British milliner Stephen Jones.
Last week I went to see the exhibiton "The Vulgar. Fashion Redefined" at the Belvedere's Winter Palace for the second time. The show deals with the controversial theme of taste in fashion. Creations by renowned designers inspire a discourse on the definition of "vulgar". The historical spectrum of exhibits spans from the Renaissance to the present. In this photo you can see two ensembles designed by John Galliano for Christian Dior in 2004 (left) and 2005 (right).
A last photo of the "Baroque Baroque" exhibition: "Kaleidoscope", the artwork in the beautiful Sala Terrena, consists of six tapering mirrored panels, fixed together to form a seven-meter-long hexagonal optical device hung from the ceiling of the room. According to Olafur Eliasson "the kaleidoscope makes us understand through experience that what we see through its mechanism is to a large extent negotiable, relative and open for engagement." The exhibition runs through March 6, 2016.
"Wishes versus wonders" - that's the name of this fascinating artwork by Olafur Elisasson. I have already shown it to you last November when I attended the opening of the exhibition. The day after Christmas I happened to be alone in the room for some minutes and took another photo in which you can also see the beautiful surrounding of the artwork.

During the Christmas holidays I visited the exhibition "Baroque Baroque" by Olafur Eliasson at the Belvedere's Winter Palace one again. The exhibition starts with the "Yellow Corridor": The staircase is lit with yellow monofrequency lamps which reduce the range of visible colour to yellow and black. An unusual effect.
Here's the last photo of the "Baroque Baroque" exhibition by Olafur Eliasson: "Your uncertain shadow (colour)" comprises five colored HMI lamps positioned side-by-side on the floor and directed at a white screen. As visitors walk across the space and into the light, their moving shadows are projected onto the screen, where they are magnified in a fanning array of five differently colored silhouettes. This is a very special self portrait.
We are still at the "Baroque Baroque" exhibition by Olafur Eliasson. In this photo you can see "Wishes versus wonders": half of a circular brass ring, five meters in diameter, hovers over the parquet floor with its open side touching a mirrored partition that intersects the rooms of the Winter Palace. The reflection visually completes the circular form, producing a virtual ring that appears to pass from the actual space in the reflected space.
