KUNST HAUS WIEN

Yesterday evening I went to see an exhibition about shoes in art and design at KUNST HAUS WIEN. The museum is located in the 3district, in a former Thonet furniture factory that has been remodelled by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. For him human misery was a result of the rational, sterile, monotonous architecture; he propagated instead an architecture in harmony with nature with uneven floors, woods on the roof and spontaneous vegetation. His buildings are not to everybody's taste, but they really stand out of the normal.

It's Summer - Let's Sit Outside

The current summer weather is perfect for enjoying the outdoor areas of the cafés and restaurants, as for instance the restaurant of the KUNST HAUS WIEN museum.

Hundertwasser Pillar

Yesterday evening I went to see the Linda McCartney exhibition at KUNST HAUS WIEN. The museum is located in the former Thonet furniture factory in the 3rd district, remodelled by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. A characteristic element of his archictecture are colourful pillars and the uneven floor. If you happen to be in Vienna until Ocotober 6, go see the exhibition - I can highly recommend it.

Photo Booth Art

On Wednesday evening I attended the opening of the exhibition "Photo Booth Art" at the KUNST HAUS WIEN. The show presents the world of the “aesthetics behind the curtain”, which range from the photo booth’s “original” function – producing photos for the official authentication of a person’s existence – through artistic ways of playing with identities to the telling of short stories or the creation of individual worlds. The exhibition runs through January 13, 2013.
