Florido Tower And its Reflection

The office building Florido Tower in the 21st district is one of Vienna's tallest buildings. It's located next to the Floridsdorfer Wasserpark (Waterpark Floridsdorf) where I currently pass on a regular basis during my afternoon walks. Yesterday the atmosphere seemed to me special and I also liked the reflection of the building in the water.

April Theme Day: School

When I step on my balcony and look to the left, I see this green building. It's part of a school campus that is to be opened in September this year. It will be named after Christine Nöstlinger, an Austrian writer best known for children's books. Speaking of schools: currently of course all schools are closed and so far it is not clear if they will be opened again before the end of the school year in June. Only the A Levels are planned to take place in the second half of May (two weeks later than primarily scheduled).

Along the Banks of the Danube

The Millenniumtower was completed ten years ago for the coming of the third millennium. Time is really flying! The mountains in the distance are Kahlenberg and Leopoldsberg, popular local recreation areas.

Donau Homes

Donau Homes is a dormitory next to the Old Danube. It offers smart studios and apartments: the rooms are move-in ready, with modern interior and equipped with the newest technology and nearly every room includes a balcony, loggia or terrace. All this sounds good, but the building is located next to express highway Südosttangente - a reason why I wouldn't want to move in.

Looking Through And Up

The DC Tower, Austria's tallest building, seen through the glass roof of another building in Donaucity. It's still weird for me that, when I moved in my apartment in the surrounding area 25 years ago, none of these buildings existed...

Florido Tower

The office building Florido Tower is located in the 21st district, it was erected in 2001, and with a height of 113m it's one of Vienna's talles buildings.

Student Hall of Residence

This dormitory, located next to the University of Economics and Business and the Sigmund Freud University houses 149 apartments in 12 different categories, a gym, a sauna, a party and a music room, a "quiet room", a bike storage room and a laundrette. Sounds like a good place to live in...

The departments and administration complex of the University of Economics and Business was designed by Sir Peter Cook and CRABstudio London.

Next to the Viertel Zwei there's another new area: The campus of the University of Ecnomics and Business, opened in 2013. It consists of six group of buildings, each of them was designed by another architect.

Growing New Quarter

The construction of the modern Viertel Zwei quarter in the 2nd district started in 2007. By now the buildings adjoin the Krieau Horse Racing Track.

A modern housing complex in the Sonnwendviertel (on the area of the former South Station) in the 10th district.

I also passed by the DC  Tower and the office building Tech Gate Vienna on my way home before the storm was coming.

Donau City at Dusk

The construction of the modern Donau City started in 1995. All these buildings have been erected on top of panels covering a highway.

Beginning of Autumn

Yesterday was the first day of autumn and the weather mostly corresponded to the new season. Not really knowing how to spend the afternoon I ended up at the Old Danube once again...

This is one edifice of the exclusive real estate project "Kaasgraben Residences" in the 19th district. The location is very quiet, next to the Viennese vineyards and a lot of beautiful villas. It must be nice to live there...

Afternoon Walk on a Gloomy Day

I love to go for an afternoon walk on Sundays and holidays, even if the weather isn't too inviting... Last Saturday I first passed Donaucity, then the adjacent Donaupark.
