Spring in the Setagaya Park

The Setagaye Park, a small public park in the 19th district, was created in the traditional japanese style. Its blooming cherry and magnolia trees are very eye-catching in spring.

The View From Oberer Reisenbergweg

The view from Oberer Reisenbergweg in the 19th district is not bad at all... The noticeable building on the opposite hillside once housed the General School of Painting founded by Austrian painter Alois Delug

Enjoying the Sunshine And the View

A sunny and warm spring Sunday, a bench, grapevines and a gorgeous view of the town - not bad at all, I would say...

My Favourite Church

Kaasgrabenkirche is my favourite church in Vienna. The Roman Catholic parish and pilgrimage church was constructed from 1909 to 1910 and is a very popular wedding site which is no wonder if you consider its beautiful location.

Bellevuewiese

The Bellevuewiese in the 19th district is a popular picnic site and deserves its name: it really offers a "belle vue" (beautiful view).

Well, that looks like there were some preparations for a proposal of marriage going on...

Abandoned House

This photo might look as if it was taken in the countryside, but actually it shows an abandoned house on the banks of the Old Danube.

I Just Can't Help it

Well, yes, I ended my last Sunday afternoon walk once again at the Old Danube. This photo shows the upper Old Danube where I don't go too often, I prefer the lower part.

Along the Banks of the Danube

The Millenniumtower was completed ten years ago for the coming of the third millennium. Time is really flying! The mountains in the distance are Kahlenberg and Leopoldsberg, popular local recreation areas.

Spring is Coming

The up and down of the temperature continues. Yesterday it was unusually hot (I saw the first people in bathing suits), over the night the temperature dropped considerably. In the shop window of the department store "Gerngroß" spring and the time for gardening have already arrived.

Very Special Sunday Flowers: 9th Blogiversary!

Today this blog turns 9!! I can't believe how time has flown by! To be honest it's sometimes a little stressful to keep the blog up and to publish a photo in due time, but so far I'm not ready to quit. When I published my first blog entry I didn't have any idea of how I could manage to take enough photos to "fill" a whole year, but you just have to open your eyes and always have the camera (or smartphone) with you. Thank you for your support by visiting my blog and commenting on the photos! I'm looking forward to sharing more photos of Vienna with you!

Donau Homes

Donau Homes is a dormitory next to the Old Danube. It offers smart studios and apartments: the rooms are move-in ready, with modern interior and equipped with the newest technology and nearly every room includes a balcony, loggia or terrace. All this sounds good, but the building is located next to express highway Südosttangente - a reason why I wouldn't want to move in.

First Signs of Spring

I live in a very busy street with trees that get their leaves always very late (and lose them early), I work in the city center and on my way from the underground to my office there are no trees. Therefore I was very happy when I noticed during my last Sunday afternoon walk that there are finally some first signs of Spring.

Vienna - the World's Most Livable City

Each year, the international consulting firm Mercer carries out a study to assess the quality of life in 231 cities around the world. The results of the study in 2019 once again gave Vienna top marks and made it the most livable city in the world for the tenth time in a row! The survey compares the political, social and economic climate, medical care, education, and infrastructure conditions such as the well-developed public transportation network, power and water supply. It also takes into consideration recreational offers such as restaurants, theaters, cinemas, sports facilities, the availability and high quality of all kinds of consumer goods, as well as nature and environmental conditions.

Sunset Obsesssion #50

The sunset last Sunday seen from Kaiserwasser in the 22nd district. I love to watch the sun set, it's a very special moment for me.

The New Danube in March

Do you remember this view? I usually take a photo of it in summer when I stop here during my bicycle tours to have a look at the sunset (for photos you can click here or here).

As Long as...

The main building of the Academy of Fine Arts is currently closed for reconstruction. On the scaffolding you can see an art installation by Austrian artist Katharina Cibulka. The feminist statement refers to the fact that for centuries women haven't been able to gain ground as artists in the fine arts. The Academy of Fine Arts has more female than male students and it is the only university in Austria with a completely female rectorship.

Silhouettes

After having left the viewing platform of Kahlenberg, I turned back once again, saw these silhouettes and thought this might be a good photo. I think there's a special atmosphere...

On Top of Kahlenberg

I did my walk on a weekday, therefore only few people were on the viewing platform of Kahlenberg which was very pleasant. On the weekends this spot is usually rather crowded. Unfortunately the view was not so great because of the clouds, but, hey, you can't have everything.

The Only Way is up...

I usually climb Kahlenberg several times a year. Some weeks ago I did it for the first time this year. It was a really nice outing. I hope the next time I do this walk nature will have woken up.

Springlike Sunday

The temperatures have been going up and down lately. Yesterday the weather was rather springlike and I started my afternoon at the Kaiserwasser, a branch of the Old Danube.

March Theme Day: Green

A beautiful green door in the 4th district. It has caught my eyes already three years ago, as you can see here.
