Autumnal Virginia Creeper
Generally I don't like autumn, but I have to admit that the colours of nature are beautiful and eye-catching this time of the year.

A Courtyard as Passage
Usually this courtyard in the city center is open during the week and allows you to pass from Bäckerstraße to Wollzeile.

Green Doors
I love to sneak into courtyards... This one is located in the very city center. I love the arrangement of the flower pots and how the Virginia Creeper entwines around the two doors.

Courtyard of the Teutonic Order #7
The Deutschordenshaus in the city center is the seat of the Teutonic Order, a German-based Roman Catholic religious order formed at the end of the 12th century. I love the building for its quiet courtyard and its "pawlatschen", the wooden gallery that runs in the atrium outside the building, facing the courtyard.

Greened up Passage
As you may already know, I love courtyards and passages. The other day I took a short walk in the 5th district and rediscovered this passage. There's a café behind the windows on the right side and in the courtyard. It is a long time since I have been sitting there with a friend of mine...

The interior designer at Palais Harrach in the city center uses the courtyard of the baroque palace as outdoor showroom.

A Shady Place
With the current heatwave it's good to know places where you can cool off. This outdoor area of a restaurant in the 7th district is not only covered with a "roof" of Virginia creeper but also located in a quiet courtyard.

Yellow & Green
I love to sneak into courtyards, curious about the "treasures" I might find there. Recently I discovered this simple, but beautiful arrangement of a table, a chair and some plants in a courtyard in the 6th distict. I love the combination of yellow and green and the splash of blue.

Entrance of a Courtyard
I don't like crowds (see yesterday's photo), I prefer the city's quiet corners, especially courtyards. Here is the entrance of the courtyard of the Teutonic Order. For photos of the courtyard itself please click here, here, here and here.

Hidden Flower Shop
This beautiful flower shop is hidden in a courtyard in the city center. You have to pass another courtyard to get there. I guess it doesn't have a lot of occasional customers and I'm wondering how long it will survive financially...
