Reflections #35
Another view of the DC Tower and some reflections in Donaucity. Did you know that these edifices are built on top of panels covering a highway?

Looking Through And Up
The DC Tower, Austria's tallest building, seen through the glass roof of another building in Donaucity. It's still weird for me that, when I moved in my apartment in the surrounding area 25 years ago, none of these buildings existed...

January Theme Day: Photo of the Year
As I'm obsessed with sunsets and walks along the Old Danube , I obviously had to choose a photo that combines these two "things" as my favourite photo of 2018. I published this photo last March when we had a cold spell and the Old Danube was frozen over - whereas I was already impatiently waiting for spring...

Before the Storm #2
I also passed by the DC Tower and the office building Tech Gate Vienna on my way home before the storm was coming.

DC Tower And Trees
The DC Tower (Austria's tallest skyscraper) seen from the Old Danube. Some trees look already rather autumnal, others still "resist"...

Sunset Obsession #46
For me seeing the sun set has something magical... So here's another photo of the sunset last Sunday.

Full Moon
Tonight is full moon. I took this photo on Monday during my bicycle ride (yes, by now night falls before I get home) when the moon already seemed rather full. Unfortunately the photo is a little blurred and doesn't quite transmit the atmosphere of the evening...

Donau City in Evening Light
Some days ago I did the first after work bicycle tour of the season and enjoyed this view of the modern Donau City.

Donau City & DC Tower
Last Saturday evening, on my way home from a shopping mall, I passed by the modern buildings of Donau City and marvelled once again at the DC Tower. With its height of 250m it is a really tall building for Austrian standards... and in fact it is Austria's tallest skyscraper.

By day...
Well, and that's how the buildings in yesterday's photo look like by day... Which view do you prefer?

January Theme Day: Photo of the Year 2015
I love sunsets and walks along the Old Danube, so of course I had to choose a photo (taken last March) that combines these two elements. I even took my last walk in 2015 along the Old Danube, I'm a very loyal person...

Sunset Obsession #12
Let's start the new blog year with one of my favourite photo subjects and a last view of my recent walk along the Old Danube: The Skyscraper "Neue Donau", the DC Tower and the Donau City at sunset.

Sunny Holiday
In Austria yesterday was a public holiday and, luckily, a sunny day too. My last walk of the old year was along the Old Danube and being not a very inventive person my first walk of the new year lead me once again to this stretch of water which is partially still frozen. In the background you can see the DC Tower, Donau City, the UNO City and the Donauturm.

Baby, it's Cold Outside
Can you see the prevailing cold in this photo? The daily maximum temperature currently is -5°C (41° F) and you have to wrap up warmly if you want to leave your apartment. Yesterday I braved the cold and took a short walk along the Old Danube. As you can see in this photo of the DC Tower and the Donaucity, Vienna is even covered with a thin layer of snow.

Skyscrapers
Here's another photo taken during my bicycle tour on Danube Island last Friday: The 250m high DC Tower is Vienna's newest and tallest skyscraper. The "skyscraper Neue Donau" pales in comparison with this new edifice, but it's still the tallest residential building in Austria.

Above The City Roofs
The modern buildings of Donau City, an area in the 22nd district, tower above the older parts of Vienna. From this viewpoint the height of the newly constructed DC Tower, Austria's tallest skycraper, is clearly visible.

DC Tower
The 220m (including the antenna 250m) high Donau City Tower, designed by French architect Dominique Perrault, is Austria's tallest skyscraper. The building was inaugurated last week, it houses offices, apartments, a hotel and a restaurant.

November Theme Day: Heights
The 250m tall DC Tower, designed by French architect Dominique Perrault, is the highest building in Vienna (and Austria). After slightly more than three years, the DC Tower is outwardly complete, while works inside the building are still going on. Most of the available floor space will be used for offices. The upper floors will be used for sky lofts, while the first 15 floors will house a four-star hotel. There will also be a restaurant in one of the top floors.
