What a View!

Looking out of the window of a meeting room at the Loos Haus, you see the Michaelerplatz and the Imperial Palace. How can anyone focus on business things with such a view?

Vienna in The Rain

We had some rainy days this past week. The bad weather didn't prevent people from going for an afternoon walk last Sunday. The street in this photo is Kohlmarkt in the city center, where you can find a lot of luxury shops. The building at the end of the street is the Imperial Palace.

Imperial Palace by Night

From 1438 to 1583 and from 1612 to 1806, the Imperial Palace was the seat of the kings and emperors of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, thereafter the seat of the Emperor of Austria until 1918. Today it houses not only the offices of the Federal President, the ministers of the chancellor's office and the secretaries of state but also the Imperial Apartments, the Imperial Silver Collection and the Sisi Museum. Preparations

On Saturday (September 22) the Day of Sports will take place on Heldenplatz. At this open air festival you can try a range of cool sports or meet your favourite Austrian athletes. During my yesterday´s afternoon walk I stumbled upon the preparations for this event. I especially loved the lined up roofs waiting on the lawn in front of the Imperial Palace to be put on top of the tents.

No Camping

I case you wanted to park your camping trailer or recreational vehicle in front of the Imperial Palace, let me tell you: it is not allowed! By the way, the building in the background is the Town Hall.

Imperial Palace

Until 1918 the Imperial Palace was the political centre of the Austrian monarchy. Here Emperor Joseph II drew up his revolutionary programme of reforms, the Congress of Vienna met and danced and Emperor Franz Joseph held audiences. Today it houses not only the offices of the Federal President, the ministers of the chancellor´s office and the secretaries of state but also the Imperial Apartments, the Imperial Silver Collection and the Sisi Museum - three absolute must-sees for tourists.
