The Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) is a cultural festival that takes place every year for some weeks in May and June. It was established in 1951 when Vienna was still occupied by the four Allies. It is one of the major highlights of the city´s annual cultural programme and throughout the years it has become one of the world´s leading cultural festivals. The emblem of the festival is a red and white "w" - I stumbled upon this big one in front of the Vienna State Opera.
